OVERVIEW

MAGIC HEader NEW
MAGIC is the world’s largest and most comprehensive wholesale fashion market week for contemporary men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, footwear, accessories and global sourcing options, hosted in one location (Las Vegas) twice a year.  As an incubator of fashion, MAGIC is where new trends surface, later to be seen in retail stores and worn by customers across the globe!

The MAGIC Marketplace is a collection of trade shows designed to connect and inspire the fashion community, includes FN Platform, WWD MAGIC, SOURCING @ MAGIC + Footwear SOURCING, WSA, THE COLLECTIVE, PROJECT + PROJECT WOMENS, CURVENV @ MAGIC, POOLTRADESHOW, playground and The Tents Project, with exhibit space in both the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Check out their website and social media pages for more information on this year's show. 

Participants will experience a behind-the-scenes look at business conducted by fashion industry buyers, vendors and manufacturers from around the world., meet with merchandising and marketing experts to learn more about their work and career opportunities that are available to those who have a passion for fashion.  Students will collect industry intel while attending educational seminars led by the fashion industry’s most respected executives on the latest trends and best practices in sourcing, advertising, market expansion, branding, inventory control, and much, much more!


Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

MAGIC occupies exhibit space in both the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Mandalay Convention Center, both located on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. Just as in the movies, Las Vegas is an exciting and market-based city, full of elaborate entertainment and festivities all year round. Feel free to explore online for more information.

Las Vegas is quite warm in August. You can expect temperatures to range from 80-100 degrees so dress accordingly in your most trendy summer fashions.

Important note about travel dates:  Exact dates for the August MAGIC Tradeshow are not released until February.  It is often six days during the 2nd or 3rd week of August.

Eligibility:
Good academic and behavioral standing
Completion of at least one academic semester at UW-Stout at the time of participation
2.0 GPA

Please note that a maximum of 12 participants will have the opportunity to enroll in this program.  If more than 12 students apply, preference will be given to students in the RMM Buying & Product Management concentration, with the greatest number of credits earned and earliest date of application fee payment.

Course Information:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive 1 credit for:
BURTL-419: National Study Tour

This is a repeatable course. Returning students to the MAGIC Trade show may have the option to shadow a vendor representative for a day.

Accommodation: Students will be housed together (4 per room) in a hotel near the conference center.

Meals: One group dinner and one group breakfast are included. All other meals costs are paid for by the students.

Travel: Group flights will be purchased for the program, the cost will be included in the program fee.
