Global Perspectives
Seize the opportunity to interact, observe, and understand the similarities and differences of educational professions in the U.S. and Great Britain. Spend two weeks in local schools or public agencies in an around Edinburgh, Scotland and Cork, Ireland that relate to your field of study at UW-Stout. These experiences will help you grow as an individual and global service citizen; enhancing your subject understanding and your personal ability to contribute to the world of education.

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland & Cork, Ireland

Scotland has its fair share of cultural entertainment venues! From castles to beaches, you can feel the country’s historical significance while you appreciate its place in today’s modern global community. Excited to hear the bagpipes? See the kilts? Discuss football with a Scottish lad? These fun and quirky traditions can be easily found if you know where to look!

Continue to embrace Great Britain’s cultural customs by participating in some traditional Irish outings: Enjoy golfing, shopping, dining, or just wandering the quaint town roads in Cork. Attend an Irish jam session to hear the authentic music of the Celtic lands and maybe even join in on an Irish jig dance!

Summer has officially arrived in Scotland in June – long golden days are to be expected (you can enjoy the novelty of writing your postcards at 11 pm in daylight). In general though remember: Great Britain’s weather is a matter of luck! June is, according to averages, a dry month, but be prepared for rain showers. Temperatures are moderate, and when the sun shines it can be very warm. You can expect temperatures ranging from 60-80 degrees average this time of year.
