Notes:

Study Abroad Costs vs. Exchange Costs: The Study Abroad Costs pertains to the IUSP Marburg Program which is ten months in length including the break time. Students will pay the UW-Stout tuition and fees in addition to a set fee for room, board, services, 50€ per month meal subsidy, and more. Please visit the IUSP website for an explanation of everything that is included. The above fee is based on €10,700. The Exchange Costs pertains to the cost for all other Hessen semester programs.

UW-STOUT TUITION & FEES: On an exchange basis, students will pay UW-Stout tuition and fees based on their resident status. Outbound students do not pay Segregated Fees. The above tuition is based on 24 credits.

HOUSING: The housing cost for Exchange is based on an average monthly rent of 350€ each month for 11 months, however, the actual cost varies between each university. See your host university website for detailed information.

VISA: Students do not need a visa to enter Germany, however, students who study for one semester or year will need to apply for a Residency Permit upon arrival in Germany. The current Residence Permit fee is 80€. We recommend that you review and bring along all of the required documentation as it can be difficult to obtain while abroad. Information regarding Residence Permits in Germany can be found at this link

GERMAN HEALTH INSURANCE: Non-EU-citizens must obtain health insurance with a German health insurance company for the duration of your stay in Germany. The monthly charges will be approximately 125€.

GERMAN STUDENTENWERK SEMESTER FEE: Exchange students pay a reduced semester fee of approximately 250€. This amount varies between each university. The payment is obligatory and a requirement for enrolling. Semester fees are NOT tuition fees; they are financial contributions to multiple facilities that all students may use and benefit from (e.g. library, cafeteria, sport facilities, theatre). Additionally, the semester fee includes a payment for public transportation, therefore, students can ride the buses, trams and most trains for free for the entire semester within the state of Hessen.
