Travel Registration

In order to be in compliance with UW-Stout's Safety and Risk Management protocol, all faculty and staff traveling abroad must complete the following three items at least two weeks prior to departure:
  1. Submit a Travel Registration:
    • If the location(s) of your destination does not appear, please email and provide the city/town name(s) and country(ies). Advisors will add the location(s) to the system and then you may complete your Travel Registration. Please allow 1-2 business days for this information to be updated.
    • NOTE FOR STUDENTS: Students traveling abroad who are not receiving academic credit for their trip must also register their travel plans. For students attending a credit-bearing program, you do not need to complete this registry. After applying for and being accepted to a UW-Stout study abroad program, students will be enrolled in CISI insurance, and will be encouraged to enroll in the U.S. Department of State's STEP program during pre-departure orientation.
  2. Enroll in CISI insurance here. CISI is the UW System's International Medical, Travel, & Security Insurance. The policy brochure may be found here.
    • 2021-2022 rates for insurance are:
      • 1 week: $11.80
      • 2 weeks: $21.50
      • 3 weeks: $30.70
      • Monthly: $41.50
  3. Enroll in STEP here. STEP is the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program offered through the U.S. Department of State. This is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Through STEP, you will receive important safety information from the U.S. embassy in the country you are traveling which will allow you to make informed decisions. The U.S. Embassy will also contact you in the event of an emergency such as a natural disaster or civil unrest as well as assist family and friends to get in touch with you in an emergency.
